J & A Beare’s long-established workshop is well-respected throughout the world for the high standard of its work. Each of the skilled luthiers and archetiers brings a wealth of knowledge to the team.
The craftspeople originate from many parts of the globe, including the UK, Switzerland, France, Japan, Italy and Poland, but they all share the same passion for the preservation of instruments and bows.
For on-going maintenance such as gluing open seams, cleaning and retouching minor scratches, we recommend that our clients bring their instrument or bow to the workshop at least once a year for a check-up.

We source only the finest quality horsehair from Siberia and Mongolia and the rehairs are carried out by our very experienced bow experts. We provide an express one-day service as well, subject to availability and a small additional fee.

Our workshop can also undertake long-term restoration projects for our clients. This can include damages following accidents, or perhaps in conjunction with insurance claims.
